A Chara,
The Gaelic Games Matches have been fixed for 13th and 14th July. For many years, Feis Committee members have arranged the Arts and Crafts display to coincide with the weekend of the Gaelic Games Finals because schoolchildren encouraged their parents to come and see their art and craft work and it was also a showcase for the creative talents of adult Glens people.
In recent years, the Feis Games have been arranged for mid July rather than late June and by this date schools have closed and many families have gone on holiday. So too have many of the people who normally helped out with the many jobs which need to be done at this time. CLG AONTROIM THUAIDH continue to be supportive of Feis na nGleann but are restricted to the mid July fixture date, due to the demands of the Joe McDonagh Hurling Competition in which County players are involved.
In the light of the changed situation, Feis members have been discussing possible alternatives to the Art and Craft display and have decided to present it pictorially on the Feis website feisnangleann.com
We would be delighted if schools and adult groups could leave their entries either with me at 38 MAIN ST,WATERFOOT or with any of those listed in the Feis Programme, by 5:00pm on 28 June or at a later date by arrangement .A panel of teachers and artists will begin their judging on the week beginning Monday 22 July..Photographs will be posted on the FEIS website and winners will be contacted through their schools and groups.
As many schools hold medal presentations and work displays early in the first term we will ensure that the medals arrive in good time.
We are anxious to try this system and hope you will take part in this year’s experiment.
Le meas agus le mile buíochas
